we were the cold and dry tile

milk-drinking at midnight

when tea was not enough to get tucked in theĀ 

crook of slumber’s elbow

and in the place of his laugh’s sound now

hollows big enough to build homes in; peopleĀ 

are more and less fragile than you think.
